LA BELLEZA DE MONTAR EN BICICLETA
Sala Barrainkua. Bilbao. Spain. June 1 – July 28. 2023
It was an exhibition of paintings, installations and objects created with the fundamental idea of sharing the beauty that Kike sees in the bicycle and the act of using it.


The exhibition currently consists of 2 installations, 2 ready-mades, 4 bicycles, and 11 paintings, although the artist continues to create new pieces. While it was conceived for an exhibition area of around 200m2, it is adaptable to spaces of smaller or larger sizes. The first venue took place at the Barrainkua exhibition hall in Bilbao, from June 1st to July 28th, 2023, coinciding with the start of the Tour de France in the Basque Country.


PAINTINGS
Each painting composing the exhibition is mounted on one or several canvases of 130 x 195cm and is supported by three pillars:
  1. The aesthetics of cycling: paintings in which the bicycle and the act of using it are protagonists.
  2. Life: each canvas is connected to a vital episode of the artist.
  3. The Hero's Journey: Joseph Campbell's work is used as the basic pattern of the exhibition.










INSTALLATIONS
The aim is for the exhibition visitor to also have fun by interacting with some works and becoming an active part of the exhibition.



OBJECTS
Art pieces imagined for fun, in some works Kike plays with cycling terms, while in others he simply uses a bicycle part to create something new.
